IF I SAT NEXT TO YOUR BODY / FACING YOU

seemed like I was looking through white water. I always thought your eyes looked too large for your face. A listless, constantly vacant quality. Dumb ancient eyes. Very strange, light blue. Aryan. Everything about you blonde and light. You probably had albinism in distant relatives. The way you looked pure, Americana, like a Wyeth girl. It, admittedly, irritated me. Now I see.

I've done all of it to myself in thirds. Hoping, a charm.

Falsely assumed immunity. Cuz of gender. So. I am worse than a boy.

All I want today.

I wish I was that boy. A boy to be wanted.
